You Must bring your Ride Pass with you!
Things to pack and remember to acquire prior to your travels to insure a safe and happy travel route:
Your horse must have a yearly coggins!
You MUST....... plan your route to Maryland and Washington now and check with the state Agriculture
departments that you will be driving through to verify whether they require any other additional vaccinations or health papers for your horse as you pass through their state.
You do not want any state official to seize your horse because you did not do this!
You MUST also check with each state department of motor vehicles to make sure of your trailer
transport requirements. Some want additional lights on your trailers, some want certain caution
reflectors etc.
Please be sure to plan your route with these concerns in mind so no one will be hassled by
state authorities while in route.
We will be providing a local vet and farrier at the Cedarville State Forest upon your arrival.
If you should need to have one for any kind of vet check or hoof-related need one will be on call for us.
You will have to pay for any such service.
We will be posting 2 endurance trainers contacts to help you start conditioning your horse properly
for the 8 mile round trip walk in and around
Washington to the White House on this ride.
While in route across the country to Cedarville State Forest we will be providing 2 Vet Hotlines
for all those traveling with their equine children. These hotlines will be posted the week of the ride!
PLEASE NOTE:
Your vet records WILL BE CHECKED by us upon check in AND DC. city officials.
DC officials have requested that we inform all riders that ALL HORSES MUST HAVE HOOF COVERINGS!
NO HORSE SHOES ALLOWED ON GRASS where we will complete our ride in and around the White House.
We recommend that you call the HORSNEAKER PEOPLE TODAY TO PLACE YOUR ORDER
OF HORSNEAKERS OR WINGS. www.horsneaker.com
1-520-455-5164

Read "The Barefoot Cross"
In addition, just like the last year, Washington officials have told us to inform all riders that your horse MUST HAVE A DUNG BAG! A dung bag is to catch any manure droppings while we are in route.
This item is pretty squirrelly to find but your local tack shop or carriage company should be able to
order one for you. Challenge them to get you one! DO NOT WAIT! You must have this to ride with
the Pony Express!
Please be sure to bring your own hay and grain and enough of it.
If for what ever reason you would like or need an on site Park Grain or Hay order you MUST give us a 30 day notice of such needs and your payment will be due upon time of order so it will be waiting for you UPON CHECK IN at the park at your 4:00PM check in!!!!
If you need anything else let us know 30 days prior and we will get done for you!!
Please bring a least a one-day supply of your own water for the water transition for your horse when you arrive at Cedarville.
You will need your own water containers while at Cedarville. You will have to walk or drive to the water
source to fill them. So we recommend you bring at least 4 water holding containers with you.
Please be sure to bring some kind of portable round pen or electric fence for the comfort of your horse while at the park.
Please be sure that your horse is BOMB PROOF for this ride!
Has your horse been in parades and such before?
Great!
Practice different scenarios with him now to brush up on things that could frighten him if it has been awhile.
Need some help or tips in bomb proofing your horse? Call Jennifer Hughes @ 615-395-8014
Is your horses a dancer or a leader? If so you must start working with him/her now to try to curb that behavior.
We must have complete Drill formation on this ride.
Our representation last ride was sterling and we must hold that position!
If you feel you and your horse are better served when someone is walking alongside of you or holding the halter than please be sure to incorporate someone to walk with you and your horse.
However...Only You...know your horse. There for, if your horse needs someone beside it, maybe you should bring another horse or better yet start working with your horse TODAY!
ALL HORSES WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE LINEUP AND PROCESSION
IF HORSE AND RIDER ARE NOT CONFIDENT AND GROUNDED (sound)
IN READINESS TO ENSURE A SAFE AND PRODUCTIVE RIDE. This will be at the discretion of City officials and the Pony Express Rider.
Once the ride starts...It will not stop for you and again,NOTHING less than perfect manners by You and Your Horse representing this ride and it's "CAUSE" will be tolerated!!
This is a ride at your own risk production!
We want to take this moment and inform you that during our ride a few mounted police individuals strategically and
with intent to disrupt and cancel the ride while in route to the White House, tried to spook our horses and gave it
their best shot with complete "unflinching" success.
So consider this when considering your horse for this particular day, cause and ride!
Mounted officials feel that backyard horses CANNOT be as well trained as their horses... Because our horses
are not police horses. At the end of the ride our horses were complimented with much respect in the question
of who trained our horses?
The answer was... These are rescue horses and they are the sweet souls that they are... out of love, respect and appreciation to their rescue. I trained all my horses to be of sound nature at our rescue based solely on love
and respect and the "INDIVIDUAL" relationships we share.
YOU MUST KNOW YOUR HORSE!
There are airplanes and helicopters and trains and traffic all around you pretty much every step of the way.
Some of the mounted horses do a great deal of dancing and circling so you must be confident that your horse
is not one to play monkey see monkey do.
Get out there and start being as one with your National Treasure TODAY!
NOW YOU KNOW!
Remember for help call Jennifer Hughes @ 615-395-8014
In addition, we would also recommend that everyone have at least one person to be your assistant especially with the rig and its parking. Last year there were several times when the horses were unloaded and then we
needed to move the rigs because of a bus or unexpected parking situation. It is just best to have someone
with you to help because you cannot hold a horse, tack a horse, etc and move a rig too.
Know how to back up and manuver your rig too!
I promise you ...You will need to have a helper or two (we will have runners and volunteers) but please think these issues out while you plan your trip.
